The Herbal Certificate Program is composed of four 25-hour modules. Each module focuses on the local medicinal herbs of the current season. The modules are divided between lecture, lab (herbal preparation production) and ecologically-based field work. Our field time includes exploring and learning about the diverse ecologies and the native plants of Southern California. Our lectures involve detailed understanding of basic herbalism with special focus on local medicinal plants. We learn about the traditional uses of medicinal plants and make an herbal apothecary. We discuss and review the physiology of the organs and systems of the body and learn which herbs have affinity with the organ system.
Notes: Field trip included: Friday, June 11. Materials fee is $20
