In each of these courses, we assess injuries and determine effective treatments. We outline the normal mechanics and relationships of the structures for a baseline. The assessment process takes us through exploring the relationship of various clinical conditions to musculo-skeletal pain symptoms. Treatment involves performing techniques of mobilization, soft-tissue mobilization, friction massage, and myofascial release. Students design and develop comprehensive clinical programs relative to the specific body area under study.
The upper body includes the shoulder and its interrelationship to cervical spine and soft tissue structures. Injuries involve thoracic outlet syndrome, rotator cuff tears, glenohumeral instabilities, impingement syndrome, and frozen shoulder.
The upper body extremities include the elbow/wrist complex with injuries, such as, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis and golfer’s elbow.
