On April 25, 2008, Healing Hands School of Holistic Health became a Nationally Accredited institution in addition to its State certification status acquired since 1993.

Certified School: For a massage training course to count for licensing, the school must be certified by the State. Note that accreditation does not change State certification.

Nationally Accredited School: Accrediting Bureau examines school administration, admissions, faculty, curricula, student advising, job placement statistics, graduate satisfaction rates, successful completion rates, physical environment, and student/classroom observation. An Accredited school must meet Federal standards in all the above areas.

Federal Financial Aid: (Also referred to as Title IV) Accreditation is the largest part of certification for Title IV. Note: Healing Hands school will most likely have Title IV in place by Summer or Fall.

The accreditation process documents everything we do, say, imply, and require of our students, our instructors, and our administration. (My last count showed we prepared 64 binders of information!) The Bureau examines everything from what is said in our advertising, what we say to a perspective student, how we enroll students, what is written on all enrollment agreements and contracts, to what financial services are offered and how they are administered. The school’s financial records are scrutinized including all student records, as well as operating costs and receivables, all books are audited. All student files, faculty files and staff files are examined. What are our successful completion rates? What are our job placement rates? How are students advised on course/program selection? Over 50 course syllabi and lesson plans were examined. The Bureau interviewed staff, students, graduates, and employers.

These statistics show in numerical form that our students are happy with the school, students are well trained, and the school’s reputation in the massage industry is well respected. Some of the school’s qualities that we most value were highly validated by the Bureau’s inspection. The Bureau was extremely impressed with the variety of our courses offered, the course work presented in class, and the adherence to the standards as outlined in the class requirements. The faculty of an accredited institution is required to be of the highest caliber. The instructors’ years of experience, the staff low turnover rate, the staff’s professionalism both in the classroom and during interviews was and is exemplary. We were informed that in the past 6 years, the Bureau has only had two other massage therapy schools earn a mark of ‘Exceeds Expectation.’ Healing hands got the 3rd! The Bureau was particularly impressed with our staff, the continuity of our communication with faculty and the school’s overall integrity.

The Bureau asked 37 current students to participate in a survey which questioned students about their experience with Healing Hands’ Admissions, Financial Services, Administration, Instructors, the School Facility. Additionally, students were encouraged to comment about the school.This school gives student the opportunity to become educated and passionate bodyworkers.

The personal attention I have received has aided me in my success so far and that which is to come.

The way the classes are offered is a great way for people to complete the courses. Please don’t change that!! Every time I leave the classroom I feel inspired, it’s a great environment.

Since 1993, Healing Hands School has had the honor to have trained over 4700 students. This stellar experience gave us the confidence to sink so much time and energy into national accreditation. It feels like Healing Hands School just graduated. The school has matured into an entity which includes national acknowledgement for the excellence of our programs. We feel accomplished and proud. We look toward a future in which we can continue to train motivated, inspired professional healers in a safe environment, with the principals of holistic health at the core of our course content, in our communication with each other, and in our deliberation with our students.

What a magnificent list of Holistic Health Practitioners! Congratulations to all of you. You each came to Healing Hands on your unique path of healing. May your future be full of good works and your kindness be reflected back 100 fold.

So often students and staff re-inspire us to continue in a shared vision of a community of healing. If ever we lose our focus, we need only to look inside a classroom, see the good intentions in a teacher’s approach, watch an earnest student attempting a new skill, hear the kindness in an Office Angel’s voice, see the camaraderie of this community, and we are filled with gratitude.
